Razor Wire: An Introduction to Its Basic Features

Release time:2025-12-30    Click:37

Razor wire’s lethal elegance stems from its micro-engineered edge. Each strand features 2–3 razor-sharp barbs (0.1mm thick) spaced 2–3cm apart, forged from hardened steel (550–650 HB). The barbs’ 45° angle creates a "self-feeding" cut—once skin contact occurs, the wire’s tension pulls the barb deeper, maximizing injury severity.

It’s designed for unyielding security. The wire’s tensile strength (1,000 MPa) prevents cutting with standard tools, and its 2–3mm diameter allows tight coiling around posts without bending. Unlike barbed wire, razor wire requires no tension—its rigidity alone creates an impassable barrier.

Material precision defines its lifespan: zinc-coated variants resist corrosion for 10+ years, while stainless steel versions (AISI 316) survive in saltwater environments. Both maintain edge sharpness through extreme temperature shifts (-40°C to 80°C).

Its deployment is minimalist: strung horizontally 1.5–2m high, it creates a visual deterrent that requires zero maintenance. One strand of razor wire can cover 50m of perimeter—making it the most efficient high-security barrier available.
